Problem / Empathy
After surgery, a stroke, or a serious fall, the last thing you want to do is haul your loved one in and out of a car for therapy three times a week. Hospital and clinic-based therapy is exhausting, and missed appointments slow recovery. In-home therapy fixes that — same licensed clinicians, same evidence-based protocols, delivered in the place your recovery actually happens.

The Reality of Quadriplegic Home Care
Transfers are not a two-minute task
A safe transfer from wheelchair to bed takes coordination, training, and the right equipment. Done wrong, it means dropped patients, injured caregivers, and avoidable hospital readmissions. Our SCI-trained caregivers are drilled on Hoyer and ceiling lifts, stand-pivot transfers, and two-person techniques.
Skin is the silent emergency
Pressure injuries can turn into Stage 4 ulcers in days for a quadriplegic patient. We build repositioning schedules into every plan, document every skin check, and escalate early signs to the RN case manager before they become wounds.
Bowel, bladder, and respiratory aren't 'extras'
Bowel programs, intermittent catheterization, cough-assist, secretion management, and trach / vent care are the real work of quadriplegic home care. Our RNs and SCI-trained HHAs handle all of it with a written plan, escalation criteria, and 24/7 clinical backup.

Why Families Choose Focus Family Care
Florida-Licensed & Medicare-Certified
Focus Family Care is licensed by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and certified by Medicare. You’ll never wonder whether your care meets state and federal standards.
Care Starts In 24–48 Hours
Most families call us in a moment of crisis — after a hospital discharge, a fall, or a sudden diagnosis. We move fast: in most cases an RN visits within 24 hours and care begins within 48.
The Same Caregiver Every Visit
Continuity matters. We assign the same nurse, therapist, or aide to your loved one whenever possible — building trust, consistency, and better clinical outcomes.
RN-Built Care Plans
Every patient gets a personalized plan of care developed by a registered nurse — not a one-size-fits-all schedule. Plans are reviewed and updated as needs change.
Multilingual Care Team
Our caregivers speak English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole — important in a multicultural region like South Florida where comfort and trust depend on being understood.
We Verify Your Insurance For Free
Don’t guess what’s covered. Call us with your insurance card and we’ll verify your benefits at no cost — Medicare, Medicaid, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross, VA, and most private plans.
How To Get Started
Step 1
Call or request a callback
Reach out by phone at (561) 693-1311 or fill out the short form on this page. A care coordinator picks up — not a call center.
Step 2
Free in-home assessment
An RN visits your home (or your loved one’s home) at no charge. We discuss medical needs, daily routines, family preferences, language, and schedule.
Step 3
Custom care plan & caregiver match
Your RN builds a written plan of care. We hand-pick a caregiver matched to your loved one’s clinical needs, personality, and language — and introduce them to you before care begins.
Step 4
Care begins — usually within 24-48 hours
Most new patients start receiving care within 1-2 days of the assessment. Your care coordinator stays in regular contact to make sure everything is going well.

FAQ
01Do you care for vent-dependent patients at home?
Yes, when the plan of care is appropriate for home setting and the patient’s physician orders it. Our RNs and trained LPNs manage trach care, vent-setting verification, suctioning, and cough-assist. Family training is always part of the plan.
02What's the difference between paraplegic and quadriplegic home care?
Paraplegia affects the lower body; quadriplegia affects all four limbs plus often the trunk and respiratory system. Quadriplegic care requires two-person transfers more often, includes respiratory management, and uses different equipment setups. We care for both, with SCI-specific training for each.
03Will insurance cover 24-hour nursing for my spouse?
Sometimes. Medicare alone rarely covers 24/7 private-duty nursing. Medicaid LTC programs, VA benefits, workers’ comp claims, and long-term care insurance can. We run the verification before any bill is generated.
04Can you help with the bowel program?
Yes. Bowel program management is a standard part of SCI care plans. Our RNs write the protocol, and SCI-trained HHAs and LPNs perform it on schedule.
05How do you prevent pressure injuries?
Written repositioning schedule, skin inspections at every shift change, specialty mattress recommendation if needed, education on hydration and nutrition, and immediate escalation to the RN case manager at the first sign of Stage 1 redness.
06What happens if we need to change the care plan?
Care plans update without having to re-start intake. RN case manager updates the plan, caregiver team is briefed, and the family approves in writing. Typical turnaround: same day for non-clinical changes, 24-48 hours for scope changes that require physician order.
